What is Twitter?

TwitterThroughout the past year, we've received dozens of emails from our friends commenting on the dynamic and relevant teaching offered through Equip U. We look for opportunities to connect with people in our weekly services, but through our Internet audience as well through email, webcasts, and something called Twitter.

What is Twitter? In countries all around the world, people follow the sources most relevant to them and access information via Twitter as it happens—from breaking world news to updates from friends. Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages.  People write short updates, often called "tweets" of 140 characters or fewer.
These messages are posted to your profile or your blog, sent to your followers, and are searchable on Twitter search.1

Thom Rainer, author and CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources, offers a Top Ten list of why he has found value in using Twitter as a communication tool. His reasons include prayer, listening, sharing his beliefs, representing his organization, and having fun. Just as the printing press rapidly spread the Gospel in the 15th century, leveraging today's technology allows the church to engage the world around us and communicate Biblical truths in the electronic medium - a necessity in todays wired world.
